The Defects Tracker is a digital punch list for recording, assigning, and tracking the resolution of construction defects. It is used at practical completion and during the defects liability period.
Logging a Defect
- 1In the project workspace, select the Defects tab.
- 2Click + New Defect.
- 3Enter: location (e.g., Level 2 / Unit 3 / Kitchen), description, trade responsible, and priority (Critical / High / Medium / Low).
- 4Attach photos from the site — images are stored in the project record.
- 5Set a Required Completion Date.
- 6Click Create.
Defect Workflow
| Status | Meaning | Next Action |
|---|---|---|
| Open | Defect logged, not yet assigned | Assign to trade |
| Assigned | Trade notified, work not yet started | Await trade response |
| In Progress | Trade is working on resolution | Monitor completion date |
| Pending Inspection | Trade claims resolved, awaiting sign-off | Inspect and verify |
| Closed | Defect resolved and signed off | No action required |
| Disputed | Trade disputes the defect or responsibility | Refer to contract |
Exporting the Punch List
Use Export Defect Report to generate a PDF punch list suitable for providing to the principal contractor, subcontractors, or inclusion in the practical completion documentation.
